RPCV Mission Statement
The Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Wisconsin – Madison group was formed in 1981 in response to Peace Corps suggestion to all campus recruiters that they start up local groups of RPCVs, in celebration of their 20th anniversary. Four members gathered at the Avenue Bar with the recruiter in February 1981 (fondly remembered, rightly or not, as Valentine’s Day). A Constitution and Bylaws were drawn up, and we were officially incorporated on October 18, 1982.
We are a group of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers and other individuals who promote Peace Corps ideals by:
- supporting a social network for Returned Peace Corps Volunteers
- promoting cultural understanding and awareness of international issues
- supporting the Peace Corps’ mission and active volunteers
- collaborating and volunteering with non-profit organizations aligned with our goals
Regular Meetings
Join the RPCVs of Madison in our monthly meeting. Every month you can indulge in the warm camaraderie of your fellow RPCVs as we attend to the business of International Calendar and ‘we all’ Poster sales, supporting Peace Corps Partnerships, organizing the Freeze for Food, and regular social excursions.
The Leadership Meeting is the third Wednesday of the month. View the Events page or contact the President of the group for details.
